RESEARCH INTERN (Ref. THAFI02)

Troy House Art Foundation is seeking an intern (research) to assist the project leader in the various art research projects. Candidate must be knowledgeable about moving image, artwork preservation, Asian art, Heritage Studies, and the history and evolution of contemporary art. THAF’s Internship Program 2020 is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students in art-related discipline. Responsibilities:

  • To assist in literature review and data collection;

  • To assist in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis;

  • To assist in establishing and managing a database for art collections;

  • To support in preparing project documentation and thesis;

  • To assist in carry out research and develop, interpret, and manage an artwork collecting program, including oversight of conservation and preservation activities consistent with the THAF’s mission;

  • To assist in new collections processing and storage facility;

  • To assist in preparing funding proposals; and

  • To perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader.

 

Requirements:

  • Studying a bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in History of Architecture/Art, Fine Arts, Visual Culture Studies, Heritage Studies or related subjects;

  • Demonstrate knowledge of interpreting, developing, and managing art collections;

  • Be proficient with practical experience with collections database and management systems;

  • Have experience in identifying and developing conservation and preservation treatments for the varied artifacts in art collections;

  • Have experience in handling, packing, and moving collections;

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English;

  • Be proficient in Mac Operating system and Microsoft office;

  • Be devoted, self-motivated, creative, detail-minded, efficient and well-organization with good communication skills; and

  • Able to work independently and systematically.
